Greetings from Mayor Willie Adams:
Thank you for visiting the site of the “Good Life City”. I invite you to come and personally enjoy many of our area attractions.
The City of Albany prides itself on being a City of Excellence, so please tell us if you have any questions, comments, complaints, or if you need assistance finding specific information.
Working together with pride. That's Albany in a nutshell.
One look at our beautiful city tells you Albany is a great place to call home. So does our state-best cost-of-living index. But Albany also is an economic hotbed. Who says? PC World Magazine, Industry Week Magazine and Money magazine consider Albany to be a top-tier city; our top industry leaders say Albany is a great place in which to do business; and Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor, U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop and our U.S. Marine Corps base commander have endorsed Albany as a Georgia Municipal Association "City of Excellence."
While the "Good Life City" is the region's economic, healthcare, military and recreational hub, Albany also is a city that overcomes great obstacles. The Flood of '94 was so devastating it drew the world's attention, but the city government responded with a national award-winning recovery program. Indeed, our bread-and-butter is our local government, which is a Georgia Municipal Association-designated "City of Ethics."
Our battle against crime is successful because it creatively combines modern and standard tools and programs with citizen involvement. Our employee training programs range from leadership development for managers to an award-winning opportunity for workers to obtain GED diplomas.
Working together, Albany and Dougherty County are bringing new life and opportunities downtown while providing recreation and planning services for citizens; information technology services to employees; and a joint Website.
In Albany, we take our role as Southwest Georgia's heart and soul seriously and it shows in our citizens' pride and dignity.
