“All of my life experiences have prepared me for this moment. All the lessons I learned during my early years – how to make it against tough odds, how to discover the best option when none of them may seem positive, how to put the welfare of others among the top of my priorities - these early lessons have prepared me for the work that needs to be done in our City.
While I am not perfect I do understand what it takes to make positive things happen. I understand the importance of working together and accomplishing goals. I have a very unique perspective of life and how to deal with difficult issues – and that is to approach them honestly, consider them rationally, and resolve them in a manner that will bring the most good, to the most people. It is with this same philosophy that I will approach the work that needs to be done in Ward 3 and the City as a whole.
I look forward to serving you!”
Christopher Pike was born June 10, 1978 to a single 16 year old child. The oldest of three children, Pike had to learn responsibility at a young age.
Having never met his father and with no other contributing male figure around, life was very difficult for Pike and his sister and brother. Throughout his childhood, Pike and his siblings have lived in homeless shelters, slept on sidewalks, lived in houses with no utilities and even spent the night in the woods. Pike understands what it means to have nothing. Pike also understands what it means to be loved and how the simple kindness of others can help to transform a persons’ life. The simple kindness and love like that of Pike’s Aunt Cindy and Uncle Vinnie, who took him in when he was in the 8th grade and raised him like he was their son has proven to be a driving force in his ability to understand the plight of those less fortunate. His Aunt and Uncle taught him the importance of working hard and maintaining a high level of integrity. They also got him through high school and sent him off to college.
After graduating from high school in 1997, Pike moved to Albany, Georgia and attended Albany State University. Pike is the first member of his family to graduate from high school and attain a college degree. In May of 2001, Pike received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and went on to earn a Masters in Management with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness from Troy State University (Troy University), in December of 2003.
Pike is the founder of Urban Pulse Media, an advertising sales and marketing company located in Albany, Georgia. He also serves on the Emerge Albany Board for the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce (Emerge Albany is the young professionals group of the Chamber) and is currently working on the Compass Project for the Albany Area Chamber. Compass is a project to help the Chamber be more representative of the entire community. His most recent success includes being selected to serve a four year term as Ward 3 City Commissioner, and elected to serve a one year term as Mayor Pro Tem.
While at Albany State, Pike met the woman who would eventually become his wife, Pam. The Pikes are the proud parents of three wonderful children-Trinity, Taylor and Tayden. The Pikes are also blessed to have his nephew Austin living with them as well.
