Mission Statement

The Sanitary Sewer Enterprise Fund supports maintenance and construction of sewer infrastructure, monitors industrial wastewater discharges and provides the safe and effective treatment of wastewater to prevent an adverse impact to public health and the environment.

The Sewer Division:

  • Operates and maintains the City of Albany's wastewater and combination sanitary and stormwater collection system, 108 pump and and lift stations, and the 32 MGD capacity wastewater treatment plant.
  • Employs a staff of 68 personnel and operates 24 hours a day. 7 days a week, with on-call staff available to assist citizens with sewer related problems after hours.

  • Complies with regulations of two (2) Georgia Environment Protection Division permits: (1) NPDES Permit # GA 0037222 for the wastewater conveyance and treatment systems. (2) NPDES Permit # GA 0036854 for the combines sewer overflow (CSP) during heavy rain events.
