Vision of the Albany Police Department
The vision of the Albany Police Department is to be identified as an internationally accredited law enforcement agency and to continue our practice of employing educated qualified personnel to enhance our relationship with the community.
Citizen Input
A Citizen Advisory Committee has been created by Chief James Younger. The committee consists of fifteen Albany citizens who are from with various economical and educational backgrounds.
The committee meets monthly with Chief Younger. And as a team, they provide proposed changes and input, which is considered, in the process of establishing future Department policies and procedures.
This year, the Citizen Advisory Committee has come up with a proposed mission statement and has defined core values for the Albany Police Department.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Albany Police Department is to provide professional law enforcement services, protect and serve the citizens, and enhance the quality of life in partnership with the community to reduce crime, and the fear of crime through joint prevention and reduction strategies.
