Code Enforcement Director’s Special Message to Clear the Air
Thank you for visiting the Albany Code Enforcement Department’s website if your visit is to share your thoughts or learn more about recent news coverage involving this department. As public servants, we work for rather than against you, and we welcome this opportunity to set the record straight.
First, all parties involved in the matter, from the property owner to the code enforcement officers, are patriots who love their country.
Second, the matter was an encroachment issue involving the public right-of-way rather than one involving the United States American Flag and whether the flag is a sign or a symbol.
Third, within a matter of hours after the citation was issued, the case was reviewed and the code enforcement officer decided to downgrade the ticket to a warning. The property owner was notified at that time and the case was determined to be resolved.
Respectfully,
Michael D. Tilson
Director
