The City of Albany, Georgia is an entitlement community that is responsible for administering the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Housing Investment Partnership Program (HOME) programs funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) within its three strategic planning areas which serve as the focus of where federally funded activities are undertaken:
CDBG's Primary Objective
The development of viable urban communities, by providing decent housing and suitable living environments and expanding economic development opportunities principally for persons of low and moderate income.
HOME's Primary Objective
To expand the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for very low-income and low-income households. Eligible activities must meet one of HUD’s national objectives:
1. Benefit low and moderate income persons,
2. Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight; or
3. Urgent needs.
