Finance Department


Derrick L. Brown is a native Albanian who attended Monroe Comprehensive High School.  After graduation, he attended Albany State University as a member of the inaugural class of Presidential Scholarship recipients.  He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce as the highest ranking student in the School of Business.

While spending 18 years at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company before its closure, Derrick was able to garner a wealth of knowledge and experience in operations management and accounting.  This includes obtaining a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University (formerly GMI Engineering & Management Institute).  Since joining the City of Albany, Derrick has received the Certified Local Government Finance Officer designation from the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
